JOHN BARLOW: 1933-2016

JOHN BARLOW: 1933-2016

It is with great sadness that I must report that John Barlow, ’52, Pembroke’s former acting Development Officer of many years, suffered a stroke and died on March 22, 2016.  He was 83.

John was a great friend of generations of North American Pembrokians, and in particular of the author of this note.  He was an active supporter of the work of the Pembroke College Foundation, enthusiastically steering dozens of Old Members to the Foundation,  providing all manner of useful, practical advice, and contributing a number of articles to our newsletter, The North American Pembrokian. I cannot remember a visit to College that John did not seek me out and very politely demand that we have lunch to learn any news of his American “flock.”  John remained in touch after he retired from Pembroke.  Our most sincerely condolences to John’s family.
