Earlier this month, the PCFNA learned that Tom Herman (’72) had quietly returned from a personal trip to Normandy for the observance of the D-Day’s 75th anniversary.  Little did we know the trip was part of a pilgrimage that three, young journalists and close friends had mounted repeatedly together over the last 45 years.

As Tom explained–“Visiting the D-Day sites in Normandy was – and always is  – a very moving experience. I’ve been attending the D-Day anniversary commemorations – celebration does not seem quite the right word – every 5 or 10 years since 1974.  The emotional impact of walking through the cemeteries and other sites never lessons.  And the knowledge that we came to liberate and not to conquer remains inspirational.”
